Print and Multimedia Differences
compare and contrast printed and multimedia versions with similar content
- printed IS vs Multimedia IS i.e. printed maps vs google maps
Different modes of display
- Print is displayed on paper. Multimedia is displayed on electronic displays, speakers, etc.
- Print is harder to edit. Easily lost
Interactivity and involvement of participants in multimedia systems
- Multimedia is more interactive than print. Has hypermedia, for example, above. Therefore users can control their own experience.
- interactivity achieved by input devices (touchscreens, keyboards, dynamic displays (screens, speakers)) that allow users to input data, react and change display accordingly thus high level of participant involvement
- Print does not have such features, so not as interactive
Ease of distribution
- Multimedia easily distributed, using networks such as internet.
- E.g. Hyperlinks easily allow people to access website
- Print requires physical delivery. Waste of time, and resources.
