Implementing → ****fourth stage in system development lifecycle

- When system is implemented, and operations commence
- Prior to commencing, conversion and tasks have to be done.
- Implementation plan → Methods and tasks that explain participant training, conversion method, and system testing
- Implementation must be carefully planned, and carried out in correct order.
- I.e. Hardware must be fully in before software.
Acquiring information technology and making it operational
in order to make the system operational, relevant information technology must be acquired; this includes:
Hardware
- Network cabling must be installed (topologies, LAN)
- Needed new hardware is bought, installed and configured (servers, switches)
- Participants are trained to use hardware
Software, customised or developed
- New software is installed to system’s needs.
- Old data is converted/formatted/transferred for/to new system (The conversion methods)
- Participants are trained to use software
Implementation plan that details:
- Participant training
- Method of conversion
- System testing
- Conversion of data for new system
