information system → a system that performs information processes

Requirements report → as the name suggests, a requirement report just says what the new system requires (duh). It talks abt the aims & objectives of the new system and gives an overview of the new system

prototype → a working model of the proposed system which is made when the problem is not understood. The prototype is not an operational system but a representation of what the system may look like (containing possible screens, buttons, and example data) to allow system developers to better understand the problem to be solved. This prototype is refined over and over again in 3 stages until the problem is understood. Those 3 stages are 1. making a model 2. making improvements 3. implement and repeat. a prototype makes the new system easier to make

Preliminary investigation → this is where you decide do we really need a whole new system or can we just patch up the old system with some flextape and go on our way? there’s a bunch of stuff u do in this section so check out 1.3 for more details.
